Welcome to the district association of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN Wiesbaden!

As GREEN Wiesbaden, we are committed to making our city even more livable – for everyone who lives here. Wiesbaden has a lot to offer: a strong community, diverse districts, lively culture and a valuable nature. This is what we are building on – and at the same time we want to resolutely seize the opportunities of the future.

Our goal is a Wiesbaden that combines ecological responsibility, social justice and good coexistence in diversity. We stand for sustainable urban development that secures and improves quality of life, affordable housing, a strong local economy and innovative ideas for the city of tomorrow. In doing so, we consistently combine climate and environmental protection, social security and economic development.

Our district association is lively, open and committed – supported by people who want to play an active role in shaping their city. Whether in working groups, district groups or at events: Here you can get involved, discuss and work together with others on solution ideas for a sustainable Wiesbaden.

Join us: bring in your ideas, become part of our community and shape the future of Wiesbaden with us – socially, ecologically, diversely and innovatively. Politics thrives on participation. We look forward to seeing you!

What we stand for and stand up for

Living well in Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden offers a high quality of life – but it is unevenly distributed. Many people feel safe, enjoy the cityscape, cultural diversity and proximity to nature. However, traffic congestion, a lack of green spaces, rising housing costs and unequal opportunities in education, health and participation show that quality of life does not happen by itself. It must be constantly redesigned – socially, ecologically and together with the people who live here.

We Greens want all Wiesbaden residents to be able to experience the strengths of our city in their everyday lives – whether in the city centre, in the suburbs or on the way between them.
To this end, we combine climate protection, social security, urban development and mobility into a policy that makes Wiesbaden more resilient, fairer and more liveable.

This requires a policy that

  • Promoting climate protection and climate adaptation – through green, biodiverse open spaces and climate-resilient urban planning.
  • Strengthening civil protection and services of general interest – so that Wiesbaden remains safe in crises;
  • conserves and promotes nature, agriculture and forestry for biodiversity, healthy soils and sustainable nutrition;
  • Rethinking urban development, housing and life – affordable, energy-efficient, socially mixed, child- and family-friendly;
  • reorganised mobility – safe, climate-friendly and comfortable for all;
  • Expanding digital infrastructure and services – for better availability and awareness of digital services and activities in the city, without depending on people;
  • Strengthening culture, health and sport – because encounter, movement and creativity are part of a vibrant city and foster cohesion and identification with our city.

We want to keep Wiesbaden worth living and developing – as a green, social and healthy city between the Rhine and Taunus, which does not measure quality of life but makes it tangible.

A city where everyone belongs

Wiesbaden is a city of diversity – and that is a good thing. People with different biographies, backgrounds and life plans live together here. We Greens are committed to a Wiesbaden where diversity is recognised and lived as a strength – where people can live independently, safely and freely, regardless of income, origin, religion, gender, age, sexual identity or disability.

We stand for a policy that takes into account all the people of society with their different realities and needs and strengthens civil society participation in the design of our city.

Our goal is a solidary, open and inclusive urban society and a city that not only respects diversity, but consciously incorporates it into its decisions and takes action against all forms of discrimination. A city where cohesion grows and participation is a matter of course – for all who live here.

This requires a policy that:

  • Creates social justice through greater equity in education, accessibility to leisure, culture and mobility opportunities, and targeted support for children, young people and families, as well as senior citizens.
  • provides protection against discrimination, racism, anti-Semitism, queerism, hatred of women and all forms of group-based misogyny, violence and homelessness.
  • Breaking down barriers – whether physical, digital or social, so that all people can live in a self-determined way.
  • Strengthening cohesion – through a vibrant civil society, democratic participation and a culture of togetherness.

We want to make Wiesbaden a city where freedom, security and self-determination become a reality for all. Because a city where everyone belongs is not a utopia – it is feasible.

Ensuring Wiesbaden's future viability

Climate protection, an intact environment, an efficient and sustainable infrastructure, digitization, securing skilled workers and jobs, social coexistence and sound finances will determine whether Wiesbaden will remain strong, livable and capable of action tomorrow. We Greens want a Wiesbaden that uses its economic strength in the Rhine-Main area to take responsibility for the environment, people and future generations – for a city that grows healthy, lives diversity and shapes change with smart ideas.

For us, sustainability means combining education, work, climate protection and adaptation, digitalisation and finance: with strong universities, a fair economy that relies on climate protection and good work, modern infrastructure and energy supply and digital, people-oriented and high-performance administration, as well as finances that do not burden but empower future generations.

This requires a policy that

  • empowering education and research – enabling young people to learn, stay and shape here;
  • promotes sustainable business – through fair conditions for existing companies, founders and employees;
  • modernised infrastructure and energy supply – for climate neutrality, climate adaptation, security of supply and quality of life;
  • Developing the administration and the city as an employer – digital, efficient and humane;
  • sustainably manages the budget and shareholdings – responsibly, generationally and in a manner that is oriented towards the common good.

We want to make Wiesbaden fit for the future – as part of a strong region between the Rhine, Main and Taunus – as a city that invests in people and gains its strength from the interplay of economy, society and nature.
