We are more than ever: Since the end of the traffic lights, we have 142 new members, 45 of whom have been new members since the beginning of the year. We have a new record: 722 Wiesbadeners are GREEN. This gives us enormous tailwind for the election campaign final spurt to the Bundestag election and the remaining weeks until the Wiesbaden mayoral election.
“We are euphoric about the influx to our party and very proud of each and every one of us. Many new members are actively involved in the election campaign. Together, we are motivated to give everything for both election campaigns in Wiesbaden and to get in touch with as many people as possible," said district chairman Rebecca Thomas. Daniel Schmitt, also chairman of the district association Wiesbaden, reports on the meeting of new members last Saturday, at which so many new members were present that the newly occupied rooms of the GRÜNEN in Mainzer Straße were occupied to the last place.
This trend can also be observed at state and federal level. 2138 people have entered Hesse since 7 November. The new membership record is now 12,574.
Many people are shocked by Friedrich Merz's cooperation with the AfD in asylum and migration policy. Anna Lührmann, Hesse's top candidate for the federal election: “Friedrich Merz has unsettled many citizens with the chaos he has caused in the Bundestag. Many people doubt that one can still rely on the word of Mr Merz. I have been approached a lot by people with a migrant background who are afraid that they will lose their homeland. And, of course, there are legitimate concerns about security in our country. This uncertainty is countered by the Green Backbone, confidence and practical proposals for a security offensive."
In view of the many demonstrations since last week, we continue to assume that many people want to take action now and will continue to join our party in the coming days and weeks.
