The GRÜNEN Wiesbaden unanimously adopted a programme for the 2026 local elections – a bottom-up democratic process as a basis for a liveable and sustainable city

Wiesbaden, 01.11.2025 – Last weekend, the Wiesbaden district association of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN unanimously adopted the programme for the upcoming local elections on 15 March 2026 in a long grassroots democratic procedure.

"Wiesbaden is already a city with a high quality of life – but we want to make it even better", emphasised Rebecca Thomas and Daniel Schmitt, co-chairs of the district association. "Our programme stands for a policy that consistently combines climate and environmental protection, social justice and diverse coexistence. We combine economic strength with environmental responsibility and boldly break new ground to strengthen Wiesbaden as a vibrant, sustainable location – for everyone who lives, works or runs a business here.”

The programme focuses on three main areas:

• High quality of life for all: Wiesbaden is to be a city that offers its citizens many opportunities and freedoms for their lives and maintains and improves the living environment through social, sustainable and climate-friendly urban development.

• Diversity and cohesion: The focus is on a policy that focuses on all people with their different realities and needs and promotes a good coexistence in our diverse society.

• Sustainable future and economic strength: Wiesbaden should be a city with a future – full of vibrancy and innovative developments that offer entrepreneurs and workers a wide range of opportunities and combine economic strength with sustainability.

"While others talk the city worse than it is, we are working on solutions for a fairer, greener and more livable future," said Rebecca Thomas. Daniel Schmitt adds: “Our programme is a clear commitment: Wiesbaden should remain a place where everyone can live well – today and tomorrow.”

The next step follows at the end of November: At the district assembly, the lists for the municipal elections and the lists for the local advisory councils in the Wiesbaden districts are drawn up. The full electoral programme and the candidates will then be published on the website of the district association.

We will present the results of the general meetings on the election program and candidates to the press at a separate date. An invitation with all the details follows.
